Companion Pet Food Pantry: Helping Families Keep Their Pets at Home

September 5 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
None

When a family is struggling financially, having enough food for their dog or cat should not become the reason they have to surrender the pet they love.

At Animal House Project, we believe companion pets belong at home with the families who love them. Our Companion Pet Food Pantry was created to help make that possible.

Our next Companion Pet Food Pantry distribution is coming up September 5, 2026, providing pet food assistance to qualified families in Pottstown and surrounding communities.

Donated Pet Food Assistance for Families in Need

Helping Dogs and Cats Stay With the Families Who Love Them

Unexpected expenses, job loss, rising grocery costs, medical bills and other financial hardships can quickly change a family’s circumstances.

For a pet owner already stretching every dollar, the cost of dog food or cat food can become another impossible decision.

That is where the Animal House Project Companion Pet Food Pantry comes in.

Pet food assistance is provided to help eligible families supplement the food needed for their companion animals. By providing this support, our goal is simple: help prevent pets from being surrendered to shelters or rescues solely because their families are experiencing financial hardship.

What Is the Animal House Project Companion Pet Food Pantry?

The Companion Pet Food Pantry is one of Animal House Project’s longest-running community programs.

Through donated and purchased dog food, cat food and other essential pet supplies, families experiencing financial hardship are given additional support to care for the animals already living in their homes.

This isn’t simply about handing someone a bag of pet food.

It is about keeping a family together.

For many of the people we serve, their pet is a best friend, a source of comfort and an important part of their family. Temporary financial hardship should not automatically mean losing that relationship.

Why Pet Food Assistance Matters

Pet Food Insecurity Can Become a Shelter and Rescue Issue

When families cannot afford pet food or basic pet care, shelters and rescues can become the last option.

Animal House Project works farther upstream.

Instead of waiting until a pet is surrendered, our pet food assistance program helps address one of the problems that can lead to surrender in the first place.

Every bag of food placed into a family’s vehicle represents something much bigger:

Another opportunity for that pet to remain at home.

And when pets can safely remain with their families, already-overburdened shelters and rescues have more resources available for animals who truly have nowhere else to go.

Upcoming Companion Pet Food Pantry Distribution

Families who need assistance are encouraged to review Animal House Project’s current Companion Pet Food Pantry eligibility and registration requirements before attending.

Advance registration is required. Food availability may vary based upon donations and current inventory.

Event Date:  September 5, 2026 from 11 am to 1 pm

Your Community Can Help Keep Our Pet Food Pantry Stocked

Donate Dog Food, Cat Food or Financial Support

The Companion Pet Food Pantry exists because people in our community decide that helping someone keep their pet matters.

As the number of families requesting assistance increases, so does the amount of food needed to keep our shelves stocked.

Donations of dry dog food, wet dog food, dry cat food and wet cat food can make an immediate difference. Financial donations are equally important because they allow Animal House Project to purchase the food that is needed most when pantry inventory runs low.

You don’t have to adopt another animal to help save one.

Sometimes saving a pet means helping the family who already loves them.

and the People Who Love Them

For Animal House Project, pet food assistance is about prevention.

It is about giving a family experiencing a difficult chapter some breathing room.

It is about reducing unnecessary pet surrender.

And most importantly, it is about protecting the bond between people and the animals they consider family.

Need help? Register for our upcoming Companion Pet Food Pantry.

Want to help? Donate pet food, make a financial contribution, volunteer or share this program with someone who may need it.

Because sometimes one bag of pet food can be the difference between a pet losing its family and going home with them. 🐾
